Welcome to Parliament View
Parliament View sits on the banks of the River Thames in the heart of the Lambeth Palace Conservation Area, with views across the river to Westminster Palace and the House of Lords. The sweeping form sits comfortably between its immediate neighbours, the 14-storey IMO tower to the west and the largely medieval 13th century Lambeth Palace to the east. The building was commended by the Royal Fine Arts Commission and English Heritage.

D137 offers a unique view of Lambeth Bridge. The bridge's red paint scheme, matches the leather benches in the House of Lords, at the southern end of the Palace of Westminster nearest the bridge. Westminster Bridge is predominantly green, to match the benches in the House of Commons at the northern end. The bridge is part of the Illuminated River, which turns the Grade II listed structure into a beautiful piece of art every evening.

D137 offers a fantastic view of the Palace of Westminster, informally known as the Houses of Parliament. The first royal palace constructed on the site dated from the 11th century, and Westminster became the primary residence of the Kings of England until fire destroyed the royal apartments in 1512. The architect Charles Barry won the subsequent competition for the reconstruction of the palace, with a design in the Gothic Revival style.

Perhaps a little confusingly, the Thames runs north-south at this point. You can see along the River Thames from Battersea Powerstation in the south, to Centrepoint in the north. That's a panorama of well over 3 miles.
