Linda's recipe
8 oz self-raising flour
2 oz butter (at room temp)
1 tsp baking powder
pinch salt
1½ tblsp caster sugar
1/4pt milk
Pre-heat the oven to 175°C (fan).
Rub butter into flour and baking powder until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Mix in the sugar and salt.
Add most of the milk, and mix together with a knife. Add more milk until you get a soft (slightly wet) dough.
Roll out onto a floured surface until you can just fit the cutter four times.
Roll the remainder to the same thickness and cut one more, then push the remainder into the cutter to make the sixth scone.
Place on a buttered baking tray, and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until risen and golden on top.
